New Colour Windows and Calligraphy (2013)

My COLOUR DISC PAINTINGS are the continuation of my COLOUR WINDOW SERIES work that I did since 2008. The circle or disc is the most complete form no beginning and no end and is in ZEN Buddhism called ENSO. It is a symbol for the ABSOLLUTE. My COLOUR DISC PAINTINGS are like the COLOUR WINDOWS contemporary interpretations of this idea and to be seen as CONTEMPORARY MANDALS supporting contemplation and meditation.

For the German Philosopher 'Arthur Shopenhauer' is the circle "..the real symbol of nature", the symbol of the recurring, the cycle of life.

The window in the centre painted in an illusionary way- is symbolic for the illusion to find stability in this cycle. Stabile however is the cycle itself but can also give insight and prospect by using the painting as a medium for contemplation.
